Something rather different, here… My wife (Inja Stanovic) and I have just published a journal article based on her Leverhulme-funded research project into historic recordings. As part of this project, we made a series of recordings using original Edison phonographs and wax cylinders, in order to understand how a series of historic recordings (made by Julius Block) were produced. The journal article describes the various ways in which our recordings were made, and introduces the idea of ‘historically-informed performance practice’.
