I recently attended Espacios Sonoros in Madrid – an excellent conference organised by Jose Luis Carles, Adoldo Nunez and Marisa Luceno (Departmento Interfacultative de Musica UAM). The event brought together composers, performers, architects, sound artists and scientists to engage in a discussion of space in sound and music and enjoy some concerts. The conference was a great success, both in terms of furthering discussion on the notion of space in sound/music but also in terms of bringing together members of otherwise distinct fields and providing an opportunity for them to share experiences and notions of space.
